One pallet covers about 300 square feet at 3″ deep.

Description
Unpainted rubber mulch
This is the rubber with nothing added to it. No pigment, no coating — the material arrives the color it already was, which runs through charcoal and gray with the variation you would expect from a recycled feedstock.
People choose it for two different reasons. Some want the honest, worked look of an industrial material and would rather the ground read as surface than as decoration. Others simply do not want to make a color decision at all, and unpainted removes the question.
Note on the color guarantee
The twelve-year color guarantee covers the painted colors, because it is the pigment it guarantees. Unpainted carries no pigment, so it sits outside that guarantee — there is nothing applied to it that could change.
A pallet of it
Seventy-five cubic feet, at the same price either way. Fifty bags of one and a half cubic feet, or one super sack.
Take bags if the mulch is going to be carried; take the super sack only where a loading dock, or a forklift and a pallet jack is already on site.
The delivered figure
Freight is already counted in it. Select your state and quantity and the price shown is the price paid, with nothing added afterward.
Orders of one to seven pallets complete on this page. Larger than that and the freight is worked out individually, so send the quantity and delivery ZIP for a figure.
Depth beneath equipment
Cushioning depends on depth, not on appearance. The deeper the installed layer, the greater the fall height it absorbs, which is what every playground specification is built around.
Impact tested and independently certified. The federal handbook that public playgrounds answer to ties installed depth to the fall height being protected.
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Public Playground Safety Handbook (Publication 325) · tested to ASTM F1292 · confirm certification in the IPEMA public certification database.Where the fall height rating and matching depth are needed, they go out with the order — what a school board, an insurer or a licensing inspector will expect to be shown.
In a landscape setting
Unpainted works where the architecture is doing the talking. Against concrete, corten steel, modern hardscape or a gravel garden, a neutral ground plane holds everything together without adding another color to the scheme.
Its behavior in weather is identical to the painted range. It does not float off in a storm and it does not slide down a graded bed.
Wood mulch hosts a fungus that fires hard dark specks onto siding, fences and parked cars, and removing them is close to impossible. Rubber does not host it.
Penn State Extension, Artillery Fungus in Mulch.Working out how much
Area in square feet times depth in feet equals cubic feet. Three inches being a quarter of a foot, a 300 square foot bed at three inches wants 75 cubic feet — a single pallet.
Play areas are installed deeper than beds and so take more for the same area. The calculator does the sum, or send your measurements and we will do it.
How it ages
It does not rot, so nothing is lost to the soil over a season and nothing needs buying twice.
It does not compact. Wood chips break down and press flat; this gives underfoot and springs back.
It does travel in the places that get used hardest — swing landings, slide exits, cut corners. Rake it back, add a little where it has thinned, and the upkeep is done.
What it is made of
Recycled tires, cleaned and shredded, with magnets removing the steel belting and air classification lifting away the fabric.
Federal agencies have examined recycled tire rubber directly and published their findings.
