What we sell
Softscape Outdoor sells rubber mulch for two jobs. The first is playground surfacing under and around play equipment. The second is landscape mulch for beds, borders, and paths.
It comes in six colors: Black, Brown, Red, Green, Blue, and Unpainted. Every color performs the same way, so the choice is about looks alone.
Every color we sell is tested to ASTM F1292 for impact and certified by IPEMA. Depth is what makes that protection work on site, and the federal playground handbook sets the depth for each fall height.

How buying from us works
Ordering runs the same way for everyone. Measure your area and settle on your depth. Run the numbers on our delivered price calculator, which takes your area, your depth, your color, and your delivery state. The price it returns is the full delivered cost, with freight inside it. Order one to seven pallets online and check out at that price. We quote any quantity, and eight pallets or more is quote only. Ask for a quote on our contact page, and we will price the load for your site. Your order then ships on pallets and arrives curbside. The driver lowers the pallets at the curb or the end of the drive.

Twenty-two years in this trade teaches you what buyers actually need. They need a real price, a straight answer about the product, and a simple way to order.
So that is what we built. One calculator that gives a delivered number. Six colors that all meet the same standard. One delivery method that works at any address in the lower 48.
The experience also shapes what we leave out. We do not dress the product up, and we do not stretch a claim past what the testing supports.
How we back up what we say
We source our claims rather than assert them. Safety claims rest on the standard the product is tested to and the certification it carries. Depth guidance rests on the federal playground handbook, which sets a depth for each fall height and covers loose fill surfaces like rubber mulch. Certification is public, so you never have to take our word for it. IPEMA runs a searchable database, and you can look up a certified product yourself in a minute. Where research exists on the material, we link the research instead of summarizing it for you. Federal and state agencies have published studies on recycled tire material used outdoors, and those reports are open to anyone who wants to read them. That is the standard we hold ourselves to on every page of this site.

Our rubber mulch is made in nine states:
- Florida, Illinois, and Kentucky
- Maryland, North Carolina, and Ohio
- Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin
We deliver to the rest of the 48 contiguous states from there. Every pallet we ship is made in the United States, and that spread of plants is part of what shapes the freight in your price.
It is made from recycled tire rubber, screened into small pieces at the plant. Magnets draw the steel out. Air classification lifts the fabric away.
How rubber mulch behaves on a site
Rubber mulch is inert. It has no odor, and it does not rot down into the soil.
It springs back as well. Wood chips pack flat under foot traffic, while rubber pieces part under a step and settle again after it.
There is one more difference worth knowing. Wood mulch hosts artillery fungus, which shoots hard black spots onto siding, fences, and parked cars. Rubber mulch does not host it.
Penn State Extension, Artillery Fungus in Mulch.Traffic does move rubber mulch out of the busiest spots, such as under a swing or across a shortcut. Rake it back and top up those spots, and the surface stays where you want it.
What we deliver, and what you handle
We deliver. We do not install. That line is worth stating plainly, because it changes how you plan the job.

The same treatment at every order size
A small order and a large one get the same price math and the same product. Nobody gets a better answer for spending more.
You see the delivered price up front, before you give us a card. That holds whether you are a homeowner, a school, a church, an HOA, or a landscape contractor.
Packaging is your call as well. A pallet holds 75 cubic feet either as 50 bags of 1.5 cubic feet or as one super sack, and both cost the same. A super sack comes off in one piece, so it needs a loading dock, or a forklift and a pallet jack on site. Bags can be carried one at a time, which is what a home delivery takes.
Asking for a quote on eight pallets or more
Larger jobs move to a quote so we can price the freight for the size of the load. Send us these details and we can price it quickly:
- The square footage of each area.
- The depth you need, or the fall height of your equipment.
- The color you want.
- The delivery address or ZIP code.
- Any access limits, such as a narrow street or a gated site.

Do you install the mulch?
No. Delivery is curbside. Plenty of our customers hire a landscaper for that part.
Can I see a price before I hand over any details?

Do you sell to schools, parks, and contractors?
Yes. Orders of one to seven pallets go through the site, and anything larger goes through a quote.
